Summer Learning

Students who bring back evidence of learning over the summer will participate in a celebration at the beginning of the school year.

One idea is a Reading Log (Manatee County Libraries have a great program to track reading).

Projects

In 4th grade we also complete projects to learn about the wonderful Sunshine State! Here is a sneak peak at one of the projects your child will be working on.  Feel free to get a head start on it over the summer.

Homework and Agendas

Math and reading homework will be assigned on select nights and will be recorded in their agenda. Students will be asked to read 20 to 30 minutes a night. Please feel free to contact me if your child struggles with homework or spends more than 30-40 minutes on a single task, and allow him/her to stop.  Please check and sign agendas nightly.  Clean our old papers but please double check with your child if something is to be returned to school before throwing anything away.

Data Binders

As 4th graders, our students will be increasingly responsible for their own learning. Part of this responsibility is keeping track of their data and how their effort is reflected in their work, and thus their grades. In the classroom we will be keeping track of and recording their data in the various subject areas. Please keep an eye out for graded work, graphs, data, etc. so that you may be a part of this process and be sure to sign anything that asks for a signature.
